Previously on Survivor, the Zapatera tribe tried to win and lost a challenge for the first time ever, but there was no drama this time as Krista and Stephanie basically were too lazy to stir things up, and the Zap 6 sent Krista to Redemption 6-2 where she will face Matt, who continued his little run after beating Kristina in the duel. On Ometepe, there was some tension between the Lazy Armpit Girls (aka Natalie and Ashley) and the hardworking yet unstable Phillip, and, judging by the preview for this episode, it was about to explode...
Sadly we first go to boring, ignorant Zapatera, where Stephanie is now the only one left with any strategical insight. Thus follows a rather boorish argument with Steve (nothing like Russell vs. Rupert 2 seasons ago) where Steve asks why Stephanie voted for him, and Stephanie basically says that Steve is a weak old man undeserving of his place in Survivor. Well, didn't Bob Crowley win in Gabon? And didn't Shambo screw up the Galus in Samoa? Didn't Holly come so close to winning in Nicaragua? Wow I thought that after hanging with Russell Stephanie at least gained some brain cells.
Then for the first time ever we go to Redemption before the duel takes place, where Krista and Matt are delighted to receive............a rather small reddish pocket Bible. Being the steadfast Christians they are, Matt/Krista go berserk and say some boring unintelligible stuff about God's will dictating whoever wins blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. Honestly they remind me of Brett and Natalie in Samoa and their so-called "prayer warrior" crap. Boring as hell. And Krista does look like Nat W. Coincidence? =/
Well then to the duel, which is a challenge from Samoa where you must grab bags with hooks, then untie the bags to get the balls out and finish a table maze. And surprise surprise it's Krista who actually takes the lead over the Redemption Island champion after taking all 3 bags with 3 swings. But Matt fights back and soon they're neck-and-neck at the table maze. Then, at a crucial juncture, Krista's ball falls in a hole, and she has to restart, giving Matt ample time to win.
Afterwards, it's the tearful farewell for Krista and the end of the most boring duel in RI history. Krista gives Matt the Bible and she leaves. Andrea, who was watching the duel, gets a confessional where she behaves like the ditched girlfriend she is and complains how Matt thinks Krista is hotter than her etc. and then ditches Matt. Poor him. Imagine winning 5 duels straight and coming back, and then getting booted again? Despite his boringness, I really feel for the guy.
Next comes a prime example of what happens to city dwellers on Survivor. Sarita cleans her tooth with a stick, and somehow jabs it in her gums or something. As the stick has bacteria, well, poor lil'Sarita gets a toothache. Well, no biggie, but she complains about it and annoys pretty much the whole tribe, giving Stephanie a golden opportunity to give her argument to the Zaps, who basically only care about winning challenges at this point. Stephanie does do a good job at apologizing to Steve and also gets David to align with her, so it looked like Sarita would have at least 3 votes against her at tribal council.
Now, over to Ometepe. Phillip uses his Special Agent skillz to judge that a storm is coming, and tells his tribe to gather wood. While Grant and Rob and Andrea go do it, the Pageant Queens just laze around and do nothing per usual. Well, Phillip was in one of his moods and basically went berserk on them, and Rob became peacemaker by calming Phillip down and telling him that he understands his pain. Notice that Phillip only spazzed at Francesca, Natashley and Kristina. All women =/.
Then it's CHALLENGE TIME! Today's challenge is basically a cross between American football and lacrosse: 2 people launch balls onto the beach and the rest of the tribe try to catch them, scoring points. Grant, being a professional football player, obviously dominates, even though he's up against Soldier Boy Mike, who tries to rip his shirt off (o.o) just to stop him from catching the balls. It doesn't work. Ometepe wins 5-0 with Grant scoring 4 and Rob robbing one (=P) from Steve. Oh and a side note, Sarita sits out on the challenge after thinking for a grand total of 6 seconds. More ammo for Stephanie.
Well I've never summarized a reward before (they're boring anyways), but this one was actually quite entertaining. Rob and Grant discover another idol clue in the meal and sneak behind the Jesus statue to look at it. Phillip uses his awesome skillz to sneak up on them, and Rob is too slow in hiding the clue. This cues another Phillip rampage, though fortunately in private, where he thought that he, Rob and Grant had formed the "Stealth" alliance but apparently his mediocre social skills misled him. Even worse, Rob now perceives him as a threat, which means he's almost certainly gone when (if?) Ometepe loses challenges.
Back on Zapatera, it's time to play It's Anybody But Stephanie. Stephanie finally begins to scramble (why didn't she do so last week?) and actually makes the dull-witted Zap 6 consider voting off Sarita to offset the Ometepe momentum. I actually wanted Stephanie to stay over that cocky bitch Sarita, but at tribal council, the Zap 6 officially became the alliance I hate the most in voting out Stephanie over Sarita 5-2.
Einstein's Lost Twin Brother Award goes to Stephanie. Yeah, she got voted out, but if the Zap 6 were smarter they would've voted out Sarita for being an obvious strategical/social threat and a physical weakness. Stephanie did play her cards well, and I thought for sure that David, Julie and Steve were all on her side forming a majority. In the end, only David sided with her and it obviously wasn't enough.
Dumber'n a Bag of Hammers Award goes to the Zap 6. Why vote out someone who could help you in challenges over someone who would kill you in them? Since merge time is near, these immunities are among the most important in the game. The tribes are at 6-6, and if one could win the next immunity, they could be leading 6-5 going into the possible merge at 12. Also, David is 100% guaranteed to flip if he does make it to the merge.
Crazy Man Award goes to Phillip for the gazillionth time in a row, for spazzing at Natashley and Rob/Grant.
